Shai unveils her Voodoo Dolls!

Somewhere, inside a little closet, hides a tiny discarded bedraggled sack doll. Roughly hewn and faded, it smiles back like a faded memory of long lost nightmares and crawled out dreams. This Halloween, it comes out to haunt you as shakes, rattles with a new life.
The Kulam Sack doll Avatars is our first sculpted tiny avatar venture into the realm of wicked witchcraft. These dolls are handpainted in Photoshop, sculpted in Maya and brought to life with scripted Blinking Eyes!
Each doll comes with its own personality:
Punk is an mohawked pierced with a needle teenage boy. Pinned is a do-gooder, fashionably cool with his neatly pinned body and a newsboy cap. Pirate is a buccaneer complete with a scabbard and a bandanna. Rollers is your regular fabulously coifed, dolled up Lady in lipstick. Stitches is almost done up but not quite, his arms off-kilter as its sewn midway.
Kulam is a Filipino word for witchcraft and sorcery.

Typhoon Ondoy Charity Events A Success!

“After the deluge of the terrible storms, there will always be a rainbow, a grander scheme to rebuild new lives.”
The Typhoon Ondoy as you may have seen over the news, destroyed thousands of homes in the very city we live in. That day, I got a phonecall from my sister to ring up emergency numbers to call in Marikina. A friend of hers reported the big Marikina river had swollen and fiercely pushing out to the banks at 10am. Our country has no consolidated 911 emergency response teams, needless to say, there was nothing on the web to call except for the mayor’s office.
As the day unfolded, I recieved text messages from friends, people stranded on top of their roofs, asking to report it online. There were countless stories of being stranded for 18 hours up on rooftops as the floodwaters rushed in their homes in as little as 3 hours. People, cars and trees swimming precariously in floodwaters by the streets. It was mayhem as the rains continued nonstop for 6-or so hours.
The internet being the only form of communications for some areas (phonelines, mobile was cut off) was a huge aid. Facebook, plurk, twitter updates had helped Filipinos tremendously for calling out volunteers, troops to send out, rubber boats to deploy, updates on victims stranded, missing persons listings. In about 24 hours, private citizens and teams were dispatched to help out those in need. Its such an remarkable feat of unity amidst catastrophe.
Luckily spared from the rains and flooding, albeit the flickering electricity and internet connections, we decided to produce an in-world fundraiser to help out the Philippine Red Cross efforts. Casa del Shai and Straylight Botanical will be contributing 50% of our earnings this two weeks to the cause. Last night the Typhoon Ondoy music event was a huge success. Thanks to my partner and RL husband, Kriss Lehmann, our friends Miabella Foxley and Bethany Heart, we will be donating a total of over $L500,00 to Red Cross this week. Your efforts make you all our internet heroes. We salute you. Thank you all for extending a hand.

Eternally Yours, Nefertari

The Eternal Nefertari gown is inspired by the Queen herself. Nefertari was the Chief Queen of Ramesses II/ Ramesses the Great. She was the symbol of everlasting life, love, beauty and depicted joyous in drawings, side by side with Isis, the great mother goddess . One of the temples at Abu Simbel was built for her as well as most magnificent tomb in the Valley of the Queens. She was illustrated in sheer white swathes of cloth as it was for all royalties during that dynasty.
The Eternal Nefertari gown is a modernized homage to her beauty and immortality. Worn with a sheer white top over a colored band, this gown is cinched at the waist with a shiney sash that flows down the front. The back is a gorgeous criss cross of the same sash. Shoulder straps highlight the upper arms as the wrists are adorned with golden ankh bracelets. This gown is available in 3 colours, Gold, Rust and Blue in Xstreet SL and at the Casa del Shai sim.
The model is wearing Pxl Creations EFE Green, Emerald and Purple make up for her skin and the AVEDA – Short Bob (Noir) for hair.

After painstakingly spilling over the submissions for Casa Del Shai’s “Life is a Cabaret, Old Chum” Flickr contest with a cigarette in one hand, a glass of cabernet in the other and classic Nina Simone playing in the background, it is my pleasure to announce the winners.
